From Snake to Fire Horse: Stepping Into a New Cycle

As January unfolds, you may feel a subtle but powerful shift – a sense that something has completed, and something new is beginning to take shape.

From a numerology perspective, 2025 was a 9 year: a year of completion, release and shedding old patterns, behaviours and beliefs. It aligned with the Year of the Snake, inviting deep inner work – the shedding of old identities, and the alchemy of turning pain, shadow and stagnation into wisdom.

As we stepped into 2026, we entered a 1 year – the beginning of a new cycle. While we are still completing the Year of the Snake, we are moving toward the Year of the Fire Horse, which begins on 17 February.

The Fire Horse appears only once every 60 years – last in 1966 and next in 2086. Working to protect the wellbeing of horses – while sometimes giving them sound healings – makes this year especially pivotal for me. I can feel that this will be a defining year, shaping my path in ways I can’t yet even imagine.

The Fire Horse energy calls us forward with courage, integrity and freedom, inviting movement that is guided by the heart rather than fear. It asks:

Where have you been holding back out of habit, worry or fear?

It demands honesty. Anything misaligned will feel intolerable to carry forward. The Fire Horse year can bring sudden clarity, decisive changes, and a sense of “now or never”.

Together, these two years form a powerful spiritual arc: The Snake stripped things back, dissolved illusions and brought you face-to-face with yourself. The Horse asks you to move forward with what remains – stronger, more confident and more aligned.

If Snake was the dark cave, Horse is the open horizon. And we don’t rush out blindly. We move with grace and strength earned through stillness.
